Thomas Brown was born around 1835 in Riversfield, County Limerick, Ireland. This is in the civil parish of Ardpartrick, the Barony of Coshlea and the Poor Law Union of Killmock. The Irish name of Riversfield is Bóthar na bPotairí which means the road of the Potters. He married Kate (Kathrine/Cathrine) Burgess? in about 1860. He died on 18 Dec 1894 in Richmond,Va. Kate died on 5 Sept 1896 in Richmond, Va.

The above reads: Mr. Thomas Brown, an old, resident of this city, died suddenly at his home, NO. 600 south First street, yesterday morning. Mr. Brown was a native of County Limerick, Ireland and came to Richmond forty years ago. During the war he was employed by the Confederate States Government at the Tredegar Works, and since then, for eighteen years, he was employed by Mr. Joseph Hall in his foundry. Lately he has been conducting a retail grocery. Mr. Brown leaves a wife and seven children- R.A. Brown of Chicago, Lawrence, of San Francisco, T.A. of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Messrs T.J and Patrick and Misses Kate and Mary of this city. The funeral arrangements will not be made until the arrival of some of the absent members of the family.
