Emma Jeanetta Fletcher was born on 28 Aug 1841 in Richmond, Virginia to Philip Fletcher and Philadelphia Gordon. She married William Thomas Ford on 22 Dec 1859. He was born on 5 Aug 1833 to Ryland Ford and Pauline Shoemaker. William Ford died on 22 May 1899 and Emma died on 3 Aug 1909 both in Richmond, VA and are buried in Riverview Cemetery.

Mrs E.J. Ford, widow of William Thomas Ford, died at Orange Courthouse yesterday morning after a brief illness. Accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. A. Houston Page, and little grandson, Hallowell, Mrs. Ford was summering at Orange. She retired in her usual health, but at 1 A.M. was stricken suddenly with the illness, which proved fatal in spite of the attentions of a hastily summoned physician and the ministry of anxious friends. Mrs. Ford was in the sixty-eighth year of age. She was a devoted wife and mother, a firm and faithful friend, and in her long life had endeared herself to all who knew her. She leaves the following children: Edgar L., Clarence L., Charles L., Mrs. Joseph L. Branch, Mrs. C.E. Clark, Oliver J., Mrs. A. H. Page, all of this city, and Leonard B Ford, of Chattanooga Tenn. The body was brought yesterday to the residence, 1809 West Main Street. The funeral will take place from Tabernacle Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock. The following will act as pallbearers: Active- J. Watson Phillips, George H Shuman, A.W. Maynard, W.J. Glasgow, Robert Glasgow, A.H. Moneure, John Badenoch, T.S. Mallonee. Honorary- W.E. Seaton, Frank T. Bates, Felix M. Jones, H.R. Pollard, L.C. Ellis, A.C. Green.

Edgar Lee Ford is 18, Alice L Ford is 14, Charles L Ford is 12, Clarence L Ford is 7, Ruth Ford is 5, Oliver J Ford is 4 and Marion D Ford is 8 months. Also living with them is Timpy Blackburn who is 21 and a housekeeper and Melroy Norrel who is 18 and the stable boy.
