Nathan Fletcher and Elizabeth Pruett

Nathan Fletcher was born in 1795 in Virginia to John Fletcher and Rachel Minter. He married Elizabeth Pruett on March 27, 1816 in Essex, Virginia. She was born around 1795 to Richard Pruett and _______. It appears that Nathan Fletcher moved from Virginia to California, while settling in Missouri for a time. Nathan Fletcher died in 1883 in Orange, California and Elizabeth died in the 1860′s.

Nathan and Elizabeth had at least four children:

1. Philip Tod Montague (    id   hiter) L W Fletcher (14 Feb 1816-22 Oct 1907) who married Philadelphia Gordon and had at least four children (William F Fletcher, Emma Janetta Fletcher, Joseph H Fletcher and Robert A Fletcher).

2. Marion Martha Appaline Matilda Fletcher (8 Nov 1819-?).

3. Nathan Fletcher (1826-) who married Martha and had at least four children (Juliana Fletcher, John R Fletcher, Adda Fletcher, and unknown Fletcher).

4. John Fletcher (1829-1911) who married Catherine Cook and had at least seven children (Elizabeth Fletcher, Alice Fletcher, John Fletcher, Alexander Cook Fletcher, Rowland Fletcher, Jennette Louise Fletcher and Robert Warren Fletcher).

Census Records:

1850: In 1850 the family is living in Smith Township, Gentry, Missouri. Nathan is 57 and a blacksmith but cannot read or write. Elizabeth is 45 and also cannot read or write. Matilda is 30 and also cannot read or write. Also living with them are Martha Ann Fletcher who is 13 and Susan Fletcher who is 7.

1860: In 1860 the family is living in Tomales Township, Marion, California. Nathan is 66 and a farmer. His real estate is valued at 2,500 and personal estate is valued at 250. Elizabeth is 56. Also living with them are children John, Nathan and Matilda. (Age 32,34 and 39 respectfully). John and Nathan both have a personal estate of 4,500 a piece. There are two children with Fletcher last named but I can not read the names. Also living there is Anderson Sile who is 26 and from Ireland.
