Edwin Toussaint and Florence Onions

Edwin Toussaint was born on 17 June 1887 in Birmingham, England. He was a son of Joseph Toussaint and Ann Dean. He married Florence Amelia Onions on 28 May 1910 in Birmingham, England. She was born on 1 July 1886 in Birmingham, England. Her parents were Charles Onions and Amelia Barrow. Edwin and Florence came to America through Ellis Island a few times. Edwin came first in 1913 to Newark. (I can not find this in passenger records). His wife and child Edward came over in 1914. At some point they all went back to England. Edwin then came back to America in 1920. Florence, Edward and their other son Aurthur then came back over in 1921. Edwin also put his name as Edward on some documents. Edwin died in the early 1960s. Florence died in March of 1967.

1930 Census: Edwin is 41 and a grinder, and Florence is 42. Edward is 19, Arthur is 14, and Florence is 8.

They had three children:

1. Edward George Toussaint (13 December 1910- 2 January 1977) married Living.

2. Arthur Nancy Toussaint (Sept 1915-14 April 1998) married Bernice Mae Lasso.

3. Florence Rose Toussaint (4 January 1922-24 March 2006) married Francis ‘Frank’ Foster.

Joseph Toussaint and Annie Dean

Joseph Toussaint may have been born in 1853 in Colchester, Essex, England.He married Annie Dean in the last quarter of 1875 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. Joseph may have been the son of Joseph Toussaint and Sarah Ram. The Joseph Toussaint born in 1853 died in 1900 in Birmingham, England.

They had six children:

1. Joseph Toussaint had a child named Joe who had a daughter named Josie Toussaint who married John Mildenhall.

2. Sara Toussaint married Jim Clayton.

3. Matilda Toussaint (born in March 1882 in Birmingham, England) married Albert Payne in 1916 and they had one daughter, Lyn Payne (who lived in Tasmania) and married a Mr Whittaker.

4. Mary Toussaint (born Sept 1884 in Birmingham, England) married John Green in 1905 and had four children, Lilian Green, Phil Green, Ernest Green and Jack Green.

5. Edwin Toussaint (born 17 Jun 1887 in Birmingham, England) married Florence Amelia Onions on 28 May 1910 and had three children, Edward George Toussaint, Arthur Nancy Toussaint and Florence Rose Toussaint.

6. Ada Toussaint (1891 in Birmingham, England) married John T Carr on 7 April 1917. They had two children, Jack Carr (who was born 14 Nov 1920) and Ada F Carr (1918-1936).
